Hilton Harvest Community Garden was initiated in 2009 by a group of residents living in Hilton, Western Australia in conjunction with The Meeting Place - a local community centre.
The project has evolved into a vision of community gardening at its best with wonderful possibilities for all Hilton residents. We have a beautiful place celebrating life, peace and natural beauty. A garden that encourages people to come together and share diverse approaches to life. Opportunities exist for members of our community to cooperate in achieving common goals in an environment free from prejudice. Hilton Harvest Community Garden provides a forum for interaction between young and old residents, facilitating a sharing of knowledge and strengthening community cohesion. We believe it is important not to underestimate the physical and mental health benefits associated with such a project. Hilton Harvest Community Garden is managed by a dedicated group of community gardeners, formalised as a committee, whose responsibilities include physical works, maintenance and administration of the site, finance and media, grant and sponsorship applications. Our Objectives:To nurture people’s interest in gardening by adopting organic gardening practices, |
