Hilton Harvest Vision 2016

After months of community consultation and meetings, we now have a wonderful vision. This vision builds on the garden's vibrant and dynamic energy, while keeping true to its grass roots ethos!

Our mission statement says it all:
VISION:

"Hilton Harvest Community Garden is a hub  for gardening, community building and education anchored in sustainability".

OBJECTIVES:
  • Nurture people's interest in gardening by demonstrating organic gardening practices
  • Provide a public green space that encourages social interaction in the community to strengthen social inclusion
  • Bring people together through participatory activities in the garden to share information on everyday sustainable living

What is the Vision?
We're super excited to share this vision with you. It has been formerly presented to the CIty of Fremantle, The HIlton Primary School Board and our community at our AGM. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. The plan is not set in stone and there will be teaks around the edges. If there's some things that are not clear just give us a call or email.

Thankyou to Greg Grabasch from
UDLA (Urban Design Landscape Architecture - a local company) for your volunteered hours facilitating the community consultation process, pulling the information together and providing us with a professionally designed plan.
The implementation of the vision is divided into three parts: Renovate, Activate and Celebrate.

Renovate stage is completed
This stage includes includes fencing the orchard and the asparagus patch, planting shade trees, making more compost bins and reworking the plotholders beds and fencing this area. The pictures below shows the potholders beds now complete and in full use! This is largely due to the hard work from our Work for the Dole team - thanks crew!

The Activate stage is in process
The second stage, Activate, includes building the nursery (completed), verge beautification and ACROD parking (completed) and establishing the 'parklet' on the western side of the site.

Celebrate
The final stage is the Celebrate stage where we will be focused on building a 'Hilton Hive' meeting/tea/activity room.
